Opera Queensland’s multifaceted education program, Exploring Opera! is designed to make opera relevant, involving and most importantly, entertaining, to school students, adults and the community.

For over 17 years, Opera Queensland has been the principal provider of high-quality opera and music theatre productions, and a range of innovative educational activities, to Queensland schools and selected interstate schools.

The company’s education team and performing artists visit schools across the length and breadth of this state each year, presenting a variety of programs to primary and secondary school students under the Exploring Opera! banner.

For Teachers
Opera Queensland has developed education programs for both primary and secondary schools that have numerous connections to classroom curriculum, and introduces students to the power of live performance. Valuable resources are also available to complement our productions.

For Students
At Opera Queensland our programs are designed to inspire and educate, helping students to develop an appreciation of opera and the performing arts. We tour both our primary and secondary school programs in an effort to increase students’ access to the arts.

For Community
Each of our theatre performances is complemented by a free pre-performance talk 45 minutes before the show. But if that’s not enough consider joining our Opera Club, and come along to an Introduction Evening with the Conductor, Director, and artists performing musical excerpts.
