Young Artist Program Auditions
Auditions for Opera Queensland’s Young Artist Program are held annually during Opera Queensland's General Auditions period. We will not be accepting Audition forms or booking times prior to 9 January, 2012.
IMPORTANT: Applications for the 2013 Young Artist Program close 2 February, 2012.

Applications and Preparation
For Singers
Young Artist Singer - Audition form
Applicants for the 2013 intake of the Young Artist Program are required to submit the following material:
- A CD containing a recent, clear recording of reasonable (not necessarily professional) quality with three contrasting arias. Of these three arias, one must be sung in Italian (as original language), one in English (translation or original) and one in either French or German (both as original language)
- A current CV that clearly details the following:
- relevant education and career information
- a comprehensive repertoire list of roles, ensembles and solo pieces (operatic, classical vocal, oratorio and music theatre) both performed and studied
- the names and contact details of three professional referees drawn from one or more of the following: voice teacher, vocal coach, Head of Vocal Department, Chorus Master, language coach or stage director
- a recent passport-sized photograph.
For Repetiteurs
Young Artist Repetiteurs - Audition form
Repetiteurs with significant experience and knowledge of operatic and classical vocal repertoire together with strong pianistic, sight-reading and language skills may be invited to audition for our Young Artist Program. Applicants must provide the following:
- A current CV that clearly details the following:
- relevant education and career information
- a comprehensive repertoire list (operatic, classical vocal, oratorio and music theatre) both performed and studied
- the names and contact details of three professional referees drawn from one or more of the following: teacher, coach, Chorus Master, language coach, stage director
- a recent passport-sized photograph.
Additional Information
- Unsuccessful vocal applicants for the Young Artist Program will automatically be granted a General Audition in lieu. To confirm a time, please telephone the Auditions Co-ordinator on (07) 3735 3045
- Pieces on the application CD do not have to be the same as those listed on the Audition Form
Singers: Short-listed applicants will be contacted to finalise an audition time. On their audition day, short-listed applicants will be required to undertake a vocal stage audition for which they will have prepared five arias, a short interview with the panel and a 20-30 minute coaching session with either the Director of the Young and Developing Artist Programs or an Opera Queensland representative.
Repetiteurs: Repetiteurs are not required to submit a recording with their application and will be contacted in person should additional information be required. Please note that applicants not selected to audition for the Young Artist Program may be considered for opportunities in Education and other areas throughout the following season, should these arise.
International Artists
Due to immigration restrictions, applicants for the Young Artist Program must hold a current Australian Resident visa.
